Middle Eastern (Belly Dance)Dance ClassesLearn the art of Belly Dancing! Have fun while you get in shape, learn to dance, elevate your self-esteem & self-confidence, and become more graceful. Bring out the feminine Goddess in you! You will learn beginner to advanced dance movements, isolations, and choreographed dance routines using Turkish, Arabic & Egyptian rhythms and dance movements. Learn the art of playing zills (finger cymbals) and using veils in a dance routine. Workshops in choreography will be available - please check for dates. Marilyn (Meyer) Cramer was a professional Jazz & Middle Eastern dancer for 8 years in the 1970's and 80's in New York & Pennsylvania, and was a dance member of the Poughkeepsie Civic Ballet Company in New York. She performed in theatres and dinner theatres throughout both states & NYC, and directed & owned the largest dance studio in New York State. Marilyn was a principle dancer in Jadaya's Near Eastern Dance Troupe. Dance Attire: Wear comfortable clothing such as a leotard and tights, full skirt and leotard or shirt, sweat pants & leotard or shirt, etc. If you have a hip scarf, bring it. If you already have harem pants or a dance skirt, wear it. Wear whatever makes you feel feminine, and you can move easily in. Class Rates: Classes are weekly. The drop-in class rate is $15 per class. The monthly rate is $50 (includes 4 classes per month or 1 class per week). That's a $10 savings if you pay monthly. The classes are 1 hour. Class Schedule: Wednesday @ 10:00am - Beginner class Friday @ 4:00pm - Intermediate class Saturday @10:00am - Beginner class Classes are continuous... Introductory workshops are available. A 2-hour workshop is $15. Will schedule workshops upon request (a minimum of 4 students - bring your friends!). Will schedule Intermediate & Advanced classes as needed. As of September 1st, 2009, I'm taking a sabbatical from teaching dance in order to pursue some other endeavors with my business.
